8 Rule For Growing In Godliness: Rule #6: Redeem Your Time

“The fact that we enter and leave this world empty-handed reminds us that there is nothing we actually own. Rather, all we have has been entrusted to us by our Creator who made it, owns it, and distributes it according to his good pleasure and good purposes. Our bodies, our money, our marriages, our families are all given in trust. So, too, does God entrust time to us. We are not owners of our time, but stewards. We prove ourselves devoted stewards when we manage our time faithfully…..”

Diagnosing & Mortifying The Sin Of Complaining

“Everyone does it. It’s all around us. In fact, it’s so normalized and pervasive that we hardly even recognize when it actually occurs. The sin of complaining is one of those “respectable sins.” That is, it’s one that’s hardly spoken about, seldom preached against, and still less frequent, a sin with which Christians persistently wage violent war. Complaining is ugly. Complaining is one of the most common and frequent sins that’s almost as easy to find and common as the air we breathe. Complaining isn’t, however, the real issue. Complaining is the outward manifestation of other heart-sins taking place in that moment. Let’s diagnose complaining. When we complain, we manifest three heart-sins that are all taking place together….”

The Difference Between Attractional And Attractive Ministry

“I listened to the first twenty minutes or so of the conference talk. I suppose he was a successful dude, so maybe he knows something I don’t. What will draw them?”. My point here is that whenever churches start asking those questions and focusing on whether or not we are “attracting,” we’ve moved off center. When we do this we become like the Pharisees, who were more concerned about how they were viewed than who they actually were. Maybe even more pathetically, we are like the teenage boy constantly checking out his budding muscles in the mirror in hopes that maybe this will help him finally get the girl to pay attention to him….”

Love Is Not Whatever You Want It To Be

“The Bible says a lot about love, but most of all it raises our expectations and subverts our paradigms. It paints an ocean while the world’s busy splashing around in a puddle. Here are five things the Bible says about love….”

**This week, the Southern Baptist Convention, at the annual conference in Phoenix Arizona proposed a resolution condemning “Alt-Right White Supremacy”, which is anti-gospel and has no place in the Christian faith . The resolution passed overwhelmingly, and we should all rejoice that such a statement was made as we actively seek racial peace and unity. You can read the entire resolution HERE.**
