Sermon Preview – Week of May 1

This Sunday we begin our exposition of “The Gospel According To John”. The goal of this Sunday’s sermon will be to press into the purpose of John’s gospel account. This Sunday’s sermon will serve as a kind of overview, setting us up for the weeks to come. Now, the best way to get yourself prepared is to set aside some time and read through the entire gospel in one sitting. Before you read, pray (doesn’t have to be a long prayer), and ask the Lord to work his truth into your mind, heart and will. Plan to read quickly, don’t worry about noting every detail, the point is to get a sense of the big picture. When you finish reading, write down some of your initial impressions, some things that stood out to you. May our study through John be one of interaction, not passivity, application, not merely accumulation. May it deepen our affections for God so that our worship edifies the body and testifies to the world, turning it upside down. May it be pleasing to the Lord!
