Sermon Preview – Week of June 25

Greetings Grace Community Baptist Church!

We had a great time of corporate worship together this past Sunday as we heard Jesus’ warning that persecution will indeed come, but he promises to keep us from falling away. If you were unable to join us, you can listen to this past Sunday’s sermon here.

This coming Sunday, we will study John 16:4b-11. Jesus comforts his disciples with the promise of the Helper, who will come after Jesus goes away. The Holy Spirit will come to do two things: convict the world (vv4-11) and lead us into truth (vv12-15).  My original intention was to preach all of vv4-15, but there’s too much rich treasure to pass over too quickly! So we will just look at vv4-11 together and consider how the Holy Spirit convicts the world.

I also wanted to make you aware that, in the middle of the service, I will lead us in an extended time of prayer. We will pray for some of the needs we have as a church, but we will also look beyond ourselves to the needs of other churches, our city, missionaries, and other countries.

Begin preparing your hearts now to hear from God’s Word by praying through the passages below and familiarizing yourself with the songs we’ll sing. I pray our gathering this Sunday will turn our hearts to Christ and find comfort in the powerful work of the Spirit to convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.

Blessings in Christ,

Josh Hayward, Interim Pastor
