The Righteous Walk

who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways!” Psalm 119.3

The psalmist has already described those whose ways are blameless, who walk in God’s laws. He then went on to write of those who observe His testimonies and seek Him with all their heart. Now, the psalmist continues his description of the blessed, of those who receive the unequalled favor of the Lord’s lovingkindness. He says of them, they “do no wrong.”

The one who seeks God, observes His testimonies, walks in His Law, and has a blameless way—the one who receives his blessing—does no unrighteousness. This is to say that his life is not characterized by wickedness and perversion, by evil. It’s a life free from that which is contrary to the Word of God.

The psalmist continues by describing those who are blessed as those who walk in His ways. Their walk, their manner of life, is characterized by godliness and righteousness, by faithful holiness. The life of one devoted to Scripture is the life that follows God’s ways. His Word marks out the path, and those who are devoted to the Lord and His word faithfully follow it.

Is that you? Do you walk in His ways and display His imputed righteousness, or is your life characterized by unrighteousness?

O gracious Lord, help us to live righteously, to walk in Your ways. Dear Father, light our path and guide our steps, for Your glory. Amen.
